Pictures for PICANet: Privacy Notice for 2019 Design Competition

This statement explains how we use any personal information we collect about you (child / young person) or the child you care for as part of the Pictures for PICANet 2019 Design Competition

What data are being collected?
First name, surname, address and age of children entering the Pictures for PICANet 2019 Design Competition (submitted on the back of drawings as part of the competition)

What are the data being used for?

PICANet have a legitimate interest in developing new colourful images to use on their literature to help brighten PICANet related documents and make these items look more interesting and accessible to other children and their families / carers. To encourage children to design some images, PICANet are running a prize competition where winning entries will be identified.
Name and address will be used to notify winners of the outcome of the competition and send out the prizes. Age will be used to verify that entrants are under 16.

Where are the data held and for how long?

All of the entrants’ data is held in paper format at the University of Leeds in a locked cabinet in a locked room. It will be held until all winners have been contacted and sent their prizes.

Sharing data with other organisations

All personal details of winners and entrants will be held securely and will not be shared with anyone outside the PICANet Team at the University of Leeds.

What if I no longer want my personal details (or the personal details of the child I care for) to be held or used for the Pictures for PICANet 2019 Design Competition?

If you do not want your personal details (or personal details of the child you care for) to be held for the Pictures for PICANet 2019 Design Competition, please contact PICANet by telephone or email (details provided below) and we will ensure that your personal details destroyed. If the prizes are yet to be awarded this will cancel the competition entry.

You also have the right to request access to and to request to rectify information held about you or the child you care for.
