In order to further support understanding of the disease and better describe its presentation and treatment provided within paediatric intensive care units, PICANet have been working with members of the Clinical Advisory Group and PICS to develop a COVID-19 customised data collection.
This customised data collection is now available on PICANet Web and we would ask you to complete this for the following patients that have been admitted to your unit since 01/01/2020:
- Children aged less than 18 years for whom a diagnosis of COVID-19 is confirmed by laboratory diagnosis during or immediately prior to admission to a paediatric intensive care unit (PICU) and
- Children who remain COVID-19 suspected or probable after repeated COVID-19 negative laboratory test results and in the presence of no other positive virology and bacteriology results.
This will include children admitted with multi-system inflammatory syndrome exclusive of other anti-microbial cause; provisionally called paediatric inflammatory multisystem syndrome temporally associated with SARS-CoV-2 (PIMS-TS).
The data collection form for completion and a data definitions manual to support completion of the data are available to download from the PICANet website on the COVID-19 page (https://www.picanet.org.uk/covid-19/).
In order to support timely analysis and outputs we would be very grateful if you could please complete this data as soon as possible after discharge.
If you have any queries please contact Caroline Lamming PICANet Research Nurse crl4@leicester.ac.uk or picanet@leeds.ac.uk and thank you again for all your efforts supporting this important work.
