The COVID-19 II Custom Data Collection has been updated with input from clinicians. Effective from today, the data collection can be completed for all PICU admissions with COVID-19 confirmed by lateral flow device (LFD) as well as polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test.

Version 2.1 of the data collection form and dataset definitions manual to support collection of the data are available on the COVID-19 webpage.

PICANet data collection began in 2002 and next year we plan to publish a report in recognition of that. The report will explore the changing epidemiology and treatment of children in paediatric critical care and we welcome your suggestions for topics. Please send them into picanet@leeds.ac.uk.

PICANet, based at the Universities of Leeds and Leicester, will be closed on Monday 29^th August 2022 for the Summer bank holiday. In addition the University of Leeds is also closed on Tuesday 30^th August. We have released version 1.1 of the PICANet Annual Report 2021 following a correction to the descriptive text surrounding Figure 7 (p32) and two in-document links to figures. These minor changes do not impact on the overall findings of the report or the recommendations. The report be downloaded from our Reports page.

Please note that the PICANet Web database remains offline for both the PICANet team and participating organisations. This means that when you visit the page you will receive a ‘this site can’t be reached’ message. The University of Leeds are working to rectify this and we will update you as soon as it is available so that data entry and validation can be resumed.

The PICANet dataset for the period 01.01.2019 to 31.12.2021 will be frozen at 12 midnight on March 31st 2022; it is essential that all event data for this period is completed and all validation queries resolved.

For children admitted prior to December 31st 2021 who remain as inpatients on your unit please ensure that all daily intervention data up to and including 31st December 2021 is complete.

PICANet have published a new document which contains details on changes within the PICANet dataset over time, including its availability and limitations. The document is titled PICANet Dataset Changes Over Time and can be found in the Data Manuals and Guidance section of our website. The document will be of particular use for anybody submitting a data or information access request for PICANet data.
