We will be taking the PICANet Web database offline on Monday 03 March from 09:00 – 17:00, please save all work and exit the application prior to 9am. This is to undertake the following work:

• Freeze the Level 3 PICU Admissions, Referrals and Transport datasets in preparation for annual State of the Nation Report cleaning; and
• Make the planned dataset changes live.

 When the system is back online, you should begin to use the updated forms that were communicated on 30^th January 2025, they can also be found on the PICANet website: https://www.picanet.org.uk

Please consider the system to still be at risk if this notice is still live after 17:00.

The Level 3 Admissions, Referrals and Transport datasets for the period 01 January 2022 to 31 December 2024 will be frozen on 03 March 2025; therefore, it is essential that by the close of Sunday 02 March, all event data for this period is complete and all validation queries resolved.  

 For children admitted prior to 31 December 2024 who remain as inpatients on your PICU, please ensure that all daily intervention data up to and including 31 December 2024 is complete.  

 Thank you all for your efforts to work to enter and validate the data. We look forward to publishing the level 3 National Paediatric Critical Care Audit State of the Nation Report 2025 later this year. 

PICANet, based at the Universities of Leeds and Leicester, will be closed during the academic Christmas holiday.

There will be limited team cover either side of the closure on Friday 20^th December and 2 – 3^rd January.

We will be back to respond to queries, including technical support queries from Monday 6^th January.

The PICANet Data Dashboard has been updated with provisional data from April – June 2024. Data for the whole of 2023 and January – March 2024 have also been refreshed.

PICANet are piloting an interim data clean in Autumn this year for Level 3 PCCUs and Transport Organisations. Tailored feedback on your organisation’s data quality will be provided, focusing on areas where you can have the biggest impact with the aim of reducing the burden on you at the annual clean.
